Legacy Guard’s Presentation on Animal Hoarding
Animal Hoarding is a complex and intricate public health community issue. The effect of it harms mental health, animal welfare, and public safety concerns. The effects that hoarding has on a hoarder are isolation, self mutilation, debt, filthy living conditions, and feelings of not being good enough. The local effects of animal hoarding can be the overcrowding of local animal shelters with the animals that are rescued from the animal hoarder, which can number in the hundreds. Which is a devastating blow to most animal shelter in the surrounding area. The smell and noise of the animals can be unbearable to neighbors and visiting family. As well as the unwanted litters that stem from the hoarded animals, which can lead to a bitter smell and and a louder noises.
